Brief of Hohhot
Hohhot, meaning “the green city” in Mongolian language, is the capital and political, economic, cultural, technical, educational and financial centerof Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. It covers an area of 17,200 sq km including 260 sq km built-up urban area. The total population is 3.12 million. Hohhot is home to 42 ethnic groups including the Mongolians as the main body and the Han as the Majority.
Hohhot is located at the junction of three major national economic strategies, namely the Bohai Economic Rim, the new round of Western Region Development and the Revitalization of the old Industrial Base of the Northeast. It serves not only as an important node city connecting Northeast China, North China, Northwest China and Russia, Mongolia, but also the central city of Hohhot-Baotou-Yinchuan-Yulin economic zone andHohhot-Baotou-Erdos-Yulin City Cluster. It is ratifiedasthe national historical and cultural famous city and a national model city for national unity and progress. It is known as the DairyCapital of China and won honors such as National Forest City and China's Outstanding Tourist City, etc.
In recent years, Hohhot has always adhered to the development concept of innovation, coordination, green development, opening up, and sharing. By exerting continuous strength in economic transformation and innovation, it has successively cultivated several pillar industries such as green food processing, electricity, petrochemical, new materials, bio-medicine and electronic information. In particular, The output value of Yili and Mengniu group ranks the 8th and 10th in the global dairy industry in 2017; Computing servers installed capacity reached 700,000 sets, ranking first nationally; the production capacity of mono-crystalline siliconreached 25GW, ranking first in the world. In 2017, the regional GDP reached 274.372 billion yuan; the ratio of three industries was 3.9:27.6:68.5. The added value of industries above designated size increased by 6.1% year-on-year; the fixed assets investment accomplished 149.08 billion yuan; the total retail sales of social consumer goods reached 157.1 billion yuan; the general public budget revenue was 20.16 billion yuan; the per-capita disposable income of urban and rural areas was 43518 yuan and 15710 yuan respectively.
